If you happen to live in the Northeast, you know that this weekend wasn't exactly the warmest.

After my plans to go to North Carolina's Outer Banks were frozen over by the "Bomb Cyclone" (whatever that means), I decided to make my way to the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. I captured a wide variety of subjects, from an abandoned Italian villa, to dramatic views of the Blue Ridge in Shenandoah National Park.

The frozen Beaver Creek Reservoir, just outside Charlottesville, Virginia (right) is by far my favorite from the trip, and one of my most satisfying night-sky shots yet. By the way, Charlottesville is a really nice place. They have a Trader Joe's. 🤙🏻🤙🏽🤙🏿

A winter sunset view from Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park.

Swannanoa Palace is a now abandoned Italian Renaissance Revival villa near Afton, Virginia. Built in 1912, it sits upon a hill overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The Night Sky: Stars looming over a tree at Beaver Creek Reservoir in Charlottesville, and a view of The Milky Way from Shenandoah National Park's Skyline Drive.

Staunton: A lovely small city located at the juncture of Interstates 64 & 81, Staunton is home to a charming downtown, incredible historic neighborhoods, and Mary Baldwin University.

Various historic buildings in Staunton, including White Star Mill, a house on Kalorama Street, and the Stonewall Jackson Hotel.

A staircase in Staunton's historic Masonic Building.

Views from the Blue Ridge Parkway: A sunset view of the Parkway from a rocky outcrop, and the abandoned Inn at Afton which overlooks the beginning of the Parkway near Waynesboro, Virginia.
